created especially for the teen and up listener by award-winning
storyteller, Regi Carpenter. The centerpiece story, Bendable Barbie,
encompasses the vicissitudes and triumphs of the Carpenter family over six
holiday memories.

Through words that flow like a grand river and images that take you to the
heights of fancy, award-winning storyteller Regi Carpenter captures your
imagination with a whisper, a roar, or a song. With a “voice that dances,”
Regi has the astonishing ability to whisk you away to the place where dreams
are born.

Stories in the Streets in an outreach literacy program that focuses on families in at-risk areas and fosters community engagement in storytelling by: 1) Creating opportunities for public storytelling wherever families gather — a farmer’s market, laundromat, or food line; and, 2) Offering storytelling workshops that raise family engagement in literacy, cultural awareness and community understanding.  The program is currently active in Lawrence, Brockton and Randolph.
