A concert of 12 personal stories told to win a chance to be the massmouth representative at the National Story Slam
Windy City National Story Slam in Chicago - JUNE 13th 2010 Sunday afternoon at Printers Row

massmouth has just been invited to send a rep the national event. In collaboration with StorySteam, Cambridge, we've created a venue to showcase
12 storytellers will contend for that spot on MONDAY night, MAY 24th at the beautiful new Lecture Hall at the Cambridge Main Library, 449 Broadway in Cambridge http://www.cambridgema.gov/cpl/ Contestants will tell a story on any theme 5 minutes (+30 seconds grace) and the audience will decide the winner with written ballots. The lucky winning contestant will receive $240 towards round trip air fare and free hotel in Chicago for the National Story Slam.

Participants must be able to attend these two events, will be responsible for their travel arrangements and all additional expenses. The winner will be may asked to represent massmouth in other capacities as well

The winner will be chosen by written ballot at the event, so everyone plays a part in the contest.

Registration fee - $20 ( this will help cover air fare of the winner)

Stories in the Streets in an outreach literacy program that focuses on families in at-risk areas and fosters community engagement in storytelling by: 1) Creating opportunities for public storytelling wherever families gather — a farmer’s market, laundromat, or food line; and, 2) Offering storytelling workshops that raise family engagement in literacy, cultural awareness and community understanding.  The program is currently active in Lawrence, Brockton and Randolph.
