Andy Davis, Storyteller
Storyteller Andy Davis will be the Featured Performer at SPEAK UP! Spoken Word Open Mike on Wed May 5th. He fill you in on what dogs talk about around the wood stove after their humans have gone to bed. Andy will reveal a peculiar, personal occupational dilemma to SPEAK UP members. Andy's stories are part magical realism, part personal, part folktale and all engaging. Audiences from Paris to Bamako to San Diego shake their heads, smile and wonder about Andy and his tales tall and short.
Andy lives with his wife and ten year old daughter in the shadow of Mt. Chocorua, where he co-directs the World Fellowship Center, an educational family camp and retreat center dedicated to peace and social justice. He is a member of the Mountain Storytellers Guild, the League for the Advancement of New England Storytelling (LANES) and the National Storytelling Network.
"Andy Davis is a storyteller of remarkable guile and wit. Andy has a straight-faced, straight-forward, seemingly innocent way of delivering the most outlandish tales I've ever heard. He's three-quarters of the way through it when I realize I've been had! Again! Why do I keep falling for this? Because he's so good at charming his audience and making us groan with recognition and laugh at ourselves. That's what the teller of a good story does. Andy is one of the best." --Joanne Piazzi, storyteller and host of the 'Storytelling in the Pantry' series, Rochester, New Hampshire
"Andy's stories are unique, witty, and totally captivating. His material is personal and, thank goodness, never self-conscious. He combines a warm, easy manner with a commanding, straightforward delivery. A storyteller with brains and heart." --Michael Parent, 1999 honoree, National Storytelling Network’s (USA) Circle of Excellence Award.
