welcome back to the open telling tonite
Brother Blue in his first appearance since the summer.

"A Teller of Classics
He dresses in blue, from his socks to his beret to the butterflies painted on his palms. He spends a lot of his time in prisons and on street corners.

"I think I was anointed to be a storyteller—I mean touched by the fire," says Brother Blue.

A blue banner across his chest reads "Brother Blue, Storyteller." Brother Blue is also known as Hugh Morgan Hill, Ph.D. For the past 35 years, he's been telling his stories in public. He is the official storyteller of Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Grand Prize for South Shore Grand Slam Story Slam generously donated by Nicolette Heavey and Stories In The Streets (A Maine Get Away)

Stories in the Streets in an outreach literacy program that focuses on families in at-risk areas and fosters community engagement in storytelling by: 1) Creating opportunities for public storytelling wherever families gather — a farmer’s market, laundromat, or food line; and, 2) Offering storytelling workshops that raise family engagement in literacy, cultural awareness and community understanding.  The program is currently active in Lawrence, Brockton and Randolph.
