Event Description

"Buddy, Can You Spare a Dime?"

Story Slam

Friday March 18, 9:15pm

Crowne Plaza, Warwick, Rhode Island

Free and Open to the Public!

Come and hear stories of people getting by during tough economic times. Or bring your own 5-minute personal story on the theme!

Participants will sign up before the slam starts by dropping

their name in the hat.  Names will be pulled at random.

Storytellers get 5 minutes to tell their story.  Plus a one-minute grace-period.  Brevity is the soul of wit!

At the end of the night, the stories will be judged by applause-o-meter, and the winner will get a fabulous PRIZE!

The focus of the evening is getting together to tell good personal narratives.  The guidelines and the "judging" are there to add spice.  So come with a story and throw your name into the hat!

There will also be two slots for 1-minute, unjudged, "snapshot" or slice-of-life stories.  Think of these as haiku stories - a quick-but-beautiful description of a situation, a brief hint of plot.
