Event Description

massmouth has been invited back to celebrate First Night 2013 with two Story Slams.

We'll say hello to 2013 with two, back to back story slams:

8PM to 9:00PM

and

9:30pm to 10:30PM

at Boston’s biggest party, First Night!

Hynes Convention Center

Room 207

900 Boylston St Boston, Massachusetts 02115

The theme for stories is "car story"  OR you may bring a story on any  prompt* from any Season IV story slams.

(*schooled, rock n roll, labels, sixth sense, night owl, travel bug, whacked, politics, foodie, kin, and present)

Tell your story or sit back and listen to some of Boston's best storytellers along with new voices and tellers right out of the audience.

Slam winners from our Greater Boston story slams and our high school program will perform along with volunteers from the audience with a 3 minute story on the theme "car story" or any of the season's themes. They can drop their names in the “hat” and a few will be drawn at random to tell in each slam.

Both story slams were standing room only last year so come early to get a seat.

About these story slams

Like a poetry slam, a story slam is a performance based contest where volunteer storytellers bring their best true stories on a theme. Due the transitory nature of 1st Night audience, tonight's slam will not be judged BUT audience can vote by silent ballot as they leave and winners and prizes will be announced in 2013!

Rules:

  1. No notes, no props, no poetry, no music. Straight up storytelling.
  2. Keep to time limit or be applauded and hugged off stage.
  3. Connect to theme
  4. 3 minutes with one minute grace period = 4 minutes.
  5. It is a PG-13 family show at 1st Night - tell and use PG-13 language.
