Event Description

Cheryl Hamilton is a relentless storyteller and refugee advocate She balances her time between the International Institute of New England and non-profit storytelling organization “Massmouth”. Her storytelling projects include curating Suitcase Stories, which honors immigrants' lives, and Stories from the Stage for PBS TV.

Every Tuesday night is Story Space from 6:45 P.M to 9:00 P.M.

Storytelling for all ages, levels, & experience in a friendly, cooperative venue where seasoned tellers and newcomers alike are received with full attention. Try out a new story or spin an old favorite. No Topics. No Competition. No Judging. Just Stories.


There is a $5 requested donation.

Signup for Open Telling (8-minute slots) 6:45 P.M. – 7:00 P.M.

Open Telling starts at 7:00pm sharp, followed by the Featured Teller.

From Davis Square: About 5 blocks up College Ave - a yellow house on the right.

MBTA Subway: Red Line (Davis Square Stop); • MBTA Bus line: Routes 94 and 96. • Parking: the parking area is not available before 7:30 PM. The driveway splits in two, take the left side. • Accessibility: Havurat Shalom is Handicap Accessible via a ramp in the rear • Food: Food is allowed as long as it is Vegetarian or Dairy. No meat, please! • Allergy Free: HS is a Non-Smoking place. Also, please avoid wearing strong scents such as perfume, cologne, or after shave.

Grand Prize for South Shore Grand Slam Story Slam generously donated by Nicolette Heavey and Stories In The Streets (A Maine Get Away)

Stories in the Streets in an outreach literacy program that focuses on families in at-risk areas and fosters community engagement in storytelling by: 1) Creating opportunities for public storytelling wherever families gather — a farmer’s market, laundromat, or food line; and, 2) Offering storytelling workshops that raise family engagement in literacy, cultural awareness and community understanding.  The program is currently active in Lawrence, Brockton and Randolph.

This season the Company Theater Norwell

will be hosting The Grand Slam Story Slam on May 5th 7:30PM.
