Damion Cotter will be our Featured Performer on Wednesday, September 15th. Damion writes sentences clear as glass that cut like diamonds. His poetry is both new and old at the same time. He might even share some poems inspired by his trip to Peru. See you on the 15th.
Speak UP! has A NEW HOME! Speak UP! Spoken Word Open Mike has moved to Walnut Street Coffee Cafe, 157 Walnut St, Lynn, MA. Come to the Walnut Street Coffee Cafe this Wednesday for the best in poetry, storytelling, jive talking, ranting, listening and just hanging out with each other. Sign up for the open mike starts at 7 PM with the actual talking kicking off at 7:30 PM.
At 7:30 all the folks who want to speak will be in a lottery that decides the speaking order. The Featured performer for the evening goes on at 8:30 PM. Folks are invited to share a poem they have written, one they love, tell a story, read a memoir, talk about your week, talk about what pisses you off, share who you love, cuss up a storm or blow kisses at the crowd- Speak UP! is a Free Speech Zone. Say what you have to say-in five minutes of course.
Thank you, Tatiana, Carlos and staff, for your kind hosting and support of Speak UP! for the last year and a half. We wish you well.
This move was made in service of Speak UP!. The Walnut Street Coffee Cafe is a quieter place. It is smaller so folks just coming in to pick up a drink will be drawn into the vibe happening behind the microphone. See you next Wednesday at the Walnut Street Coffee Cafe.

It kicks off at 6:00 PM sharp. Folks can sing two songs or have the mike for 10 minutes,
which ever is shorter.
At 7:30 PM the musical feature holds reign for half an hour, followed
by more Open Mikers. Cold beer, good tunes, good sandwiches. Now that's living!
Spoken Word is also welcome at this open mike just so you know.
(This Musical Open Mike is NOT taking the place of Speak Up. It's in addition to it.
Don White is crazy, crazy busy, and crazy wonderful for the community he loves.)
