DOORS OPEN AT 6:30PM  start time 7PM

Johnny D's legendary club will be the host for the semi-finals for massmouth's regulation slams that were held throughout the Commonwealth in story slam season III Obehi Janice and Bruce Marcus hosting.

Who's in the slam?

a cartoonist, a lawyer, an actress and many more from all walks of life!

Co host Bruce Marcus

Bruce  began his storytelling journey in 1990.  He has performed in venues large and small across New England, serves as feature coordinator for the weekly series The Story Space in Cambridge, and hosted last month’s Story Space 20th Anniversary Celebration

and Obehi Janice

Obehi is a performer/writer from Lowell, Massachusetts. Her work explores the power of voice in identity politics, cultural exchange, and testimony. 


All winners from these slams will compete with each other for a space in the BigMouthOff, on April 11, 2012

Johnny D’s is a Boston institution owned and operated by the DeLellis family since 1969. Johnny D’s Restaurant, serving dinner and weekend brunch, has received local and national attention as well.

On April 11, 2012, 7-9PM All the finalists will gather at Coolidge Corner,  main theater to compete for a week in a medeival townhouse in Tuscany and other prizes.

Grand Prize for South Shore Grand Slam Story Slam generously donated by Nicolette Heavey and Stories In The Streets (A Maine Get Away)

Stories in the Streets in an outreach literacy program that focuses on families in at-risk areas and fosters community engagement in storytelling by: 1) Creating opportunities for public storytelling wherever families gather — a farmer’s market, laundromat, or food line; and, 2) Offering storytelling workshops that raise family engagement in literacy, cultural awareness and community understanding.  The program is currently active in Lawrence, Brockton and Randolph.
