Our story slam season continues at Bella Luna with “Beasts” and special guest, Joseph Porcelli, founder and Chief Executive Neighbors of .

Whether it crawls, walks, slithers, flys or resides deep within you, we want to hear your beastly stories.  There is a story there, whether you know it, yet, or not. Bring it. #


THE COHOST:  Joseph Porcelli is the founder and Chief Executive Neighbors of that connects neighbors who don't know each other do stuff with and for each other in the neighborhood where they live. He earns his living leading a consulting practice that provides community engagement strategy and implementation to Federal, State, and Local public agencies and their partners. 



ABOUT STORY SLAMS: People with a five minute story on the theme “Beasts” will drop their names in the “hat”. 10 lucky tellers will be drawn at random to tell and be judged. There will be a team of 5 volunteer judges and massmouth awards prizes to the top two stories. Listeners will be engaged in story improv games between each 5 minute feature.

On April 26th, 2011 all the winners will gather for a BIGMOUTHOFF story slam at Rabb Hall at the Copley Square Library. massmouth will award the lucky winner of this contest with a fabulous prize.

Grand Prize for South Shore Grand Slam Story Slam generously donated by Nicolette Heavey and Stories In The Streets (A Maine Get Away)

Stories in the Streets in an outreach literacy program that focuses on families in at-risk areas and fosters community engagement in storytelling by: 1) Creating opportunities for public storytelling wherever families gather — a farmer’s market, laundromat, or food line; and, 2) Offering storytelling workshops that raise family engagement in literacy, cultural awareness and community understanding.  The program is currently active in Lawrence, Brockton and Randolph.
