Event Description

Norah Dooley is one of 20+ professional storytellers working with ReadBoston's Storymobile and she will be telling folktales from Haiti and Puerto Rico, all over Boston. All venues are open to the public and all attendees receive a free paperback book from ReadBoston.

Celebrate summer with the ReadBoston Storymobile! ReadBoston Storymobiles travel to summer programs throughout the city providing children with free books and captivating stories told by professional storytellers. We visit libraries, child care centers, community centers, and parks in every neighborhood on a weekly basis. These events are open to the public and free of charge. Stories in the Streets in an outreach literacy program that focuses on families in at-risk areas and fosters community engagement in storytelling by: 1) Creating opportunities for public storytelling wherever families gather — a farmer’s market, laundromat, or food line; and, 2) Offering storytelling workshops that raise family engagement in literacy, cultural awareness and community understanding.  The program is currently active in Lawrence, Brockton and Randolph.
