Event Description

Our 9th annual festival will be held on April 4-10, 2011 with featured tellers Joe and Jesse Bruchac, Lyn Ford and Bill Harley, and regional feature teller Andrea Lovett.

Seven days - one whole week! - of storytelling in the Capital Region of New York State. Stories for kids, stories for teens, stories for adults . . . stories for everyone! Riverway events are held mainly in our great area public libraries.

The over 20 performances are all FREE! We also offer workshops, story swaps, great storytelling "stuff" for sale, and lots more!

Stories in the Streets in an outreach literacy program that focuses on families in at-risk areas and fosters community engagement in storytelling by: 1) Creating opportunities for public storytelling wherever families gather — a farmer’s market, laundromat, or food line; and, 2) Offering storytelling workshops that raise family engagement in literacy, cultural awareness and community understanding.  The program is currently active in Lawrence, Brockton and Randolph.
