Story Slam, Season V in 2013-14!
Winners of Somerville from story slam season V will get together to compete for a spot in the BIG MOUTH OFF!
Theme: Semifinals (Include the Slams: Teacher, 9to5, Fear, We are family, Feast, Celebrate, Animal, Relative, Missed Connections)
Come see all the winners from our Story Slams in Somerville re-share their stories for a chance to move on to the Big Mouth Off. Each individual will re-tell their story, shortened to 4 minutes, which reflects the theme of the Slam they won. This event is a fundraiser for our Storieslive program.
Tickets bought here in advance are $15 and are $20 at the door.
After 6:30PM, seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, while seats last.
What is a Story Slam? A story slam is a contest of stories by known and undiscovered talent. Themes are posted on our events pages (www.massmouth.com) and story slammers sign up on the night to tell a 5-minute short story on the evening's theme. Ten names will be drawn at random from a box. A team of 5 volunteer judges - interested amateurs, storytellers, theater people and members of the audience who love stories - evaluate how well each story is told, how well it is constructed, how well the story explores, connects and/or reveals some truth about the theme and, how well it honors the time limit. The 2 highest-scoring tellers are awarded prizes and an opportunity to perform at the "BigMouthOff" at the at the end of the slam season (Sept - April).
