Who doesn’t love a good story? We’ve heard them at Massmouth, on This American Life, and on The Moth -— quirky, true stories that are funny or touching, and that give you something to reflect on. How many times have you thought, “I’ve got a story like that.” Well, this class starts with the firm premise that everyone has fascinating stories to tell, and that the best way to become a good storyteller is to hear and tell stories. We’ll learn some of the techniques of oral tradition that help us tell our stories not from memorized texts, but from images and sense memory. By the end of the class we’ll all have three stories ready for open mikes and story slams.
