SLAM OF ALL SLAMMERS! THE BIG MOUTH OFF is the final contest in Boston’s second story slam season. Eighteen slams, from OCT - 2010 until April 2011, were produced by massmouth and the winning stories will be performed starting at 6PM on APRIL 26th 2011 at in the Boston Public Library’s Rabb Auditorium, Copley Square, Boston MA .
In venues from Somerville, to Roxbury to JP and beyond, massmouth has hosted a series of story slams where seasoned professionals and fledgling storytellers alike shared their experiences and reveal their insights on the following themes:
"games people play”, "transported", "horrified"," service “," a Boston T Party ",“medical madness ","secrets", "holidaze", "your day in court", “somebody’s got to do it”, "love objects”, “beasts”, “ crazy exes”, "point of view", "where I'm from", “death and taxes”, "down and out”, "wysiwyg"
At each slam, ten contestants, coming from all walks of life ,told their real life stories.
The audience will listen to a writing professor, a lawyer, an after school teacher, a real estate agent, a high school teacher, and others tell their winning stories and compete for the grand prize – a week at a medieval Tuscan townhouse. There are more prizes for the winners chosen by the distinguished judges. In addition there will be 1 Audience Choice winner chosen by the audience at the end of the evening. In between sets of judged stories, the audience can participate in a mini-slam of stories on the theme - "wrong turn".
