THE COMMUNITY CHURCH OF BOSTON WEEKLY SUMMER SPEAKERS

& COMMUNITY DISCUSSION SERIES:

 

On July 10, 2011, CCB will be hosting the second in a summer series of weekly topical discussions.

 

We will gather at 11:45 AM, to share brunch. The speaker will begin presenting on a topic of interest to the congregation and friends at 12:15 PM. A community discussion will follow.

 

Please bring a wholesome, nutritious, savory bit to contribute to our brunch table. Coffee & Tea will be provided.

 

Our second topic in this weekly summer series, on Sunday, July10, 2011, will be The Impact of Street Performances: Celebrating self-expression as a basic human right. Our speaker will be Stephen H. Baird, the founder and director of Street Arts and Buskers Advocates and Community Arts Advocates.

Stories in the Streets in an outreach literacy program that focuses on families in at-risk areas and fosters community engagement in storytelling by: 1) Creating opportunities for public storytelling wherever families gather — a farmer’s market, laundromat, or food line; and, 2) Offering storytelling workshops that raise family engagement in literacy, cultural awareness and community understanding.  The program is currently active in Lawrence, Brockton and Randolph.
