First Story Slam SRO at Kennedy's on OCT 26

massmouth - we did it! We packed the house and created an audience for story that bridged old and new. The tellers represented a fifty year spread from youngest to oldest. The audience was 50% new to the world of story as entertainment. They actually paid to get in! Some of the best stories were told by the tellers at either end of the age spectrum. The styles of telling were as diverse as the stories. So, tonight I am pumped about the future of storytelling - as an art form as a way of life. The story slam showed us a possible path into the future. We can move as artists connected to the larger community through story into the 21st century.

The winner was a 20 yr old from MIT, Paul Hlebowitsh,
he told a great story about his family! He won a $50
gift certificate to Kennedy's Midtown and a t-shirt.

And tied in second place were Bruce Marcus
and Michael Anderson. They got T- shirts
and lotsa love!

Robert Isenberg, Mike Sweeney, Kevin Brooks,Paul Hbelowitsch,Maggie Birch,Robert Fairchild,Bruce Marcus,Michael Anderson,James McCoy, Marty Levin all told stories.
Sallie Rae Rogers put her name in the hat too.

Thanks from all of us to Woo Taing of Kennedy's Midtown, for having the vision to invite us and sponsor us.

We need to say a huge thank you to Andrea Lovett, who has the vision, energy and steady common sense that makes great ideas become reality; to Stu Mendleson who works faithfully and really notices details, to Doria Hughes who provides good will, good humor and good sense to all our work and to Elsa Zuniga who thinks ahead and behind and knows how to organize.
