Following April's packed house, local hero Michael Anderson and special out-of-town guest Bill Hillman will keep up the momentum of great stories for 1st Person Plural in 2014.

This monthly series gives accomplished storytellers a chance to tell longer stories than you’d hear at a story slam.  Host H.R. Britton says, “the audiences just love getting to go deeper into the stories with the tellers.  The response has been tremendous.”

Bill Hillmann is an award-winning storyteller and the creator of the internationally acclaimed storytelling series The Windy City Story Slam. He is the author of the acclaimed debut novel The Old Neighborhood which was released in April.  The Chicago Tribune says, "Hillmann's evocative novel captures the gritty sights, sounds and pulse of street life in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago."  Hillmann is a union construction worker, a bull-runner in Spain and a former Chicago Golden Glove Champion.

Bill will tell about an experience he had in Pamplona, Spain running with the bulls. Last year on July 13th there was a catastrophic pile up of runners in the tunnel. Over one hundred people were injured, and five were left fighting for their lives. Bill was a central figure in this unfolding drama.

Michael Anderson is a First Amendment lawyer.  He thinks: there’s no such thing as free speech if you don’t use it. After he takes off his tie, he talks to audiences in ways they don’t allow in federal court. He has performed in venues from San Francisco to London. And is a multiple massmouth story slam winner and several times BigMouthOff finalist.

massmouth, inc. is a Boston-based 501c3 promoting the art of storytelling through education, live performance and digital media.
