Are you a performer of story or listener, both, other? Tell us a bit about yourself...
I've loved other people's stories since I was a young child, listening to my father talk about hunting the wild hogs in the swamps along the gulf coast of Mississippi and Louisiana with his father and a horde of uncles, cousins, and Buster, the hog dog. "You couldn't find a better animal to make andouille with 'cuz all they ate was that sweet nut grass that only grows there," he'd assure us, arms folded confidently across his chest. I pictured him and his older brother with their rifles, tricked out in heavy oilcloth coats and denim overalls, piling out of Daddy Buck's Model A along some desolate stretch of a two-lane highway straight out of Robert Penn Warren's "All the King's Men" at dusk, and trudging for the scrub oak, heavy with Spanish Moss. Can I tell stories as vivid, funny, exciting, and compelling as my father's about my own life? We shall see.
