the living art of storytelling in Massachusetts

The First Jamaica Plain Story Slam of the season was at Doyle's @ 3484 Washington Street, Jamaica Plain, MA @ 7:00pm. Tickets are $8 in advance on eventbrite and $10 a the door.

The theme is "Emergency" - Stop drop and roll into Doyle's pub to kick off our JP slam season with special guest Shawn Donavon. Shawn was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota, population 30 where emergencies (by our standards) were daily occurrences. For the last ten years as an EMT and firefighter with the Boston F.D., Sean has cut cars open, picked up severed limbs, pulled people from burning buildings and out of holes in the ground. Sean is a funny guy and will share some of his top emergency stories with us....don't miss this one.

After a SRO 2011 season at Bella Luna's, massmouth's Jamaica Plain series continues this year with Robin Maxfield hosting 6 slams at Doyle's. It is a short walk from Green Street Orange Line T stop and there is plenty of parking in 2 lots right behind the club, just off Washington Street.

Seating starts at 6:30pm. Stories begin at 7pm. Ten lucky tellers will be drawn at random to tell and be judged. Other audience members can join in on judging teams or just listen and enjoy a night of stories. Like poetry slams, there is team of volunteer judges and massmouth awards the top two stories. Listeners will be engaged in story improv games between each 5 minute feature. Listen to our podcasts at iTunes and podcast webpage. And check out our video archive to get an idea about 5 minute stories

On April 11, 2012 all the finalists will gather at Coolidge Corner Theater main theater to compete for a week in a medeival townhouse in Tuscany and other prizes.
"Because have a life, you have a story. Bring it!"
