Storytellers wanted! Come tell your true, 5 minute stories of acceptance or be an avid listener  at

Gulu-Gulu Café  on 247 Essex Street in Salem, MA

on Sunday, June 24th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Art*Throb is teaming up with massmouth for an evening of true five-minute stories on the theme of acceptance .

Bring your stories of coming out or being accepted to grad school, by the cool kids or despite your overbite.

- The search for acceptance is universal. 

Bring your storytelling talent, theater background, writing background, spoken word connection and/or interest to 

The Gulu-Gulu Café

for Salem's first but not last,  story slam.

This is an off-season massmouth slam = Low on rules, high on fun!

Grand Prize for South Shore Grand Slam Story Slam generously donated by Nicolette Heavey and Stories In The Streets (A Maine Get Away)

Stories in the Streets in an outreach literacy program that focuses on families in at-risk areas and fosters community engagement in storytelling by: 1) Creating opportunities for public storytelling wherever families gather — a farmer’s market, laundromat, or food line; and, 2) Offering storytelling workshops that raise family engagement in literacy, cultural awareness and community understanding.  The program is currently active in Lawrence, Brockton and Randolph.
