Event Description

A year ago, I discovered a new "lightning rod" technique for creating stories from my childhood memories. It worked so well that I easily created two hours of new stories in three months - and performed them all to acclaim as Teller-in-Residence at the International Storytelling Center.

Here's a chance to learn this method and be coached through the process of using it to create personal stories of all kinds.

What's a "lightning rod"? A meaningful but unshaped episode in your life is like an electrically charged cloud: full of energy, but with no path to powerful expression. In this workshop, you'll learn how to find a "lightning rod" that allows the episode's energy to flow like a lightning bolt’s, releasing energy and excitement. I'll give examples, explain this technique, and guide you in applying it to an unshaped episode or moment from your own life.
