Event Description

If you would like to come respond to stories@massmouth and directions and confirmations will be sent to you.

This is an extra Kickbutt  this month organized with "meetup" organizer  Jason McGarva also  massmouth member and Norah Dooley and Andrea Lovett as facilitators. There are only 2 spots left. The charge is 30.00 for 2 hours.

  • Have you ever wanted to get up and tell a story from your own life, but you're not sure how to get started?
  • Do you want to improve your ability to engage an audience and impact them?
  • Do you have some life experience and wisdom to share with others, and you'd like a place to learn how to do that as well as a platform to practice doing it?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you're going to love our next meetup.  I'm bringing in Norah Dooley and Andrea Lovett from MassMouth - the largest storytelling organization in Boston - to lead a special workshop for us.  In this fun, interactive event, you'll stretch yourself as you learn how to craft a kick butt 5-minute personal story from scratch.

It's a lot easier and faster than you think, especially when you have an easy-to-follow formula for story creation (which the teachers will provide for you). Believe it or not, you'll have your story completely done in a matter of minutes.

You'll get to practice several variations of your story throughout the class with a partner, and then at the end you'll be able to share your story with the group.

Plus, in order to help you improve as fast as possible, I will record your speech with a high-quality camera and microphone so you can review it at home. You can take this video and post it on Youtube, Facebook, discussion forums, put it on DVD and send it to your family and friends... whatever you want. It's a great way to share your story with others, and it helps others get to know you. Plus, you can show the video to other more experienced speakers and storytellers and get some extremely valuable feedback if you want.

Regardless of whether you do anything with your video or not, this is a fun and engaging event that will transform you into a much better speaker and storyteller in just two short hours. Not only will you walk away with a video of your story, but you'll also walk away with more confidence and skill in front of an audience, and that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
