Event Description

Libby Frank researches and brings to life women from history. Tonight we will meet Katharine Wright Haskell in a telling called:

Birds of a Feather - The Wright Family

Katharine Wright Haskell

& Her Brothers Wilbur & Orville

How two boys who didn’t graduate from high school and their Oberlin-educated sister collaborated as pioneers in aviation in an intense competition with renowned international engineers and inventors. This Midwestern family loved learning, promoted self reliance and family solidarity,  and contributed to to the invention of the airplane.

Incidentally, Dayton, Ohio, is storyteller Libby Franck’s birthplace. And her late husband Herb was a model airplane enthusiast and photographer.  He even had a Graflex camera with 4x5 plates, just like the Wright Brothers!
