the living art of storytelling in Massachusetts
On Sunday Oct.19th come and share your own out of this world experience or listen to some outrageous true tales at the New World Tavern’s first story slam. The slam will be hosted by Andrea Lovett, co-founder of massmouth.
Our sacrificial teller of the evening will be Kim Miot of Plymouth setting the bar high. Kim is the Director of News at Plymouth Cable TV (www.pactv.org) . She will share a terrifying story of her own. Power outage? Short curcuit? Our special guest is Diane Finn of Plymouth Lantern Tours.(www.lanterntours.com). Kim’s specialiizes in spinning yarns of ghosts and history in downtown Plymouth. She will tell us who is dwelling in the very room we’re telling.
The theme for this slam is “Terrified".
Are you afraid of the dark ? Have you ever seen a ghost? Or, maybe you lost the key to the safe with your wife’s diamond necklace in it? Whatever your terrifying story is bring it and share your true five minute story for a panel of three to five judges and tell in front of a full house. Rather sit back and watch the events unravel? Listeners have an opportunity to participate in storytelling games and vote in an audience choice ballot.
Come for dinner and try one of the award winning chefs Johnny Sheehan’s dinners. Johnny is the winner of Ommegang HopChef Boston. You might also want to try one of the 32 beers available while youl isten to some “terrifying” tales.
On the night of the slam, competitors drop their name in a hat and are chosen at random to compete against nine other tellers for prizes that include restaurant gift certificates. Cash bar and free parking. We can’t wait to hear your story.
This story slam is a Massmouth South story slam. Massmouth is a 501c3 non profit promoting the art of storytelling. Tickets will be $15.00 at the door and $10.00 online
