Event Description

Xanthe Gresham, storyteller; and Mary McWilliams, Norma Jean Calderwood Curator of Islamic and Later Indian Art, Harvard Art Museums

Delving deep into the rich culture and epic mythology of Persia, acclaimed storyteller Xanthe Gresham performs sections of The Shahnama: the Persian Book of Kings. Enter a world of romance, lust, tragedy, and war—where fathers and sons may be strangers in battle; where kings treat others like pawns in a game of chess; where beauty can be a gift and a curse; and femme fatales may condemn young men to journey through fire. Held in conjunction with the exhibition In Harmony: The Norma Jean Calderwood Collection of Islamic Art .

For ages 12 and above. Free admission.
