Event Description

Massmouth, the storytelling non-profit based in Boston presents "Storytelling/Acoustic Open Mic" at Design at 639, on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 7 pm. Storytellers, young, old, experienced and novice. are invited to share their tales and songs. Admission is free, and refreshments will be available.

"This month, our theme is reflections on 2010 and tales from this year, resolutions or 'doing more with less,' " explains event organizer Sally Cragin. "We also have "prompts" for those who need a start telling their story. Audience members are welcome to come and hear stories, however, none of which is longer than five minutes."

Grand Prize for South Shore Grand Slam Story Slam generously donated by Nicolette Heavey and Stories In The Streets (A Maine Get Away)

Stories in the Streets in an outreach literacy program that focuses on families in at-risk areas and fosters community engagement in storytelling by: 1) Creating opportunities for public storytelling wherever families gather — a farmer’s market, laundromat, or food line; and, 2) Offering storytelling workshops that raise family engagement in literacy, cultural awareness and community understanding.  The program is currently active in Lawrence, Brockton and Randolph.
