Who doesn't love a good story?
With the popularity of The Moth and This American Life, storytelling is on the rise. If you're a teacher, theatre artist, wannabe storyteller, writer, parent, or none of the above, join us-we want to hear your story. You'll develop expressive language skills, and gain confidence speaking in front of others. First you'll learn how to re-tell a classic folktale in your own words, employing exercises to help you use your voice and body to convey what's in your imagination. We'll discuss basic storytelling techniques; then you'll learn to craft a tale from your own life. Through take-home and in-class written and oral exercises, we'll explore what events have good story potential. Then, through four easy steps, you'll develop your story into a tale worth telling.
Explore your story in this four-week workshop. Monday nights from 7-9pm, beginning October 19th and ending November 23rd. (No class November 2nd and 9th)
