Event Description

WYSISWYG “What You See Is What You Get”
Computer glitch? Online fiasco? Or is it that you never dress up?
This will be the second slam at Haley House hosted by Nina LaNegra and Fulani Haynes.

with special co host The Maestro Zoom (Isah Gray), a Boston area Hip Hop Artist and Music Producer., two time  New England Urban Music Award finalist and performer known for his “one man orchestra ”style of music production and vocalization. is a non profit- promoting the timeless art of storytelling in 21st century life.

ABOUT STORY SLAMS: People with a five-minute story on the theme as Contestants will drop their names in the “hat”. 10 lucky tellers will be drawn at random to tell and be judged. There will be a team of 5 volunteer judges and massmouth awards prizes to the top two stories. Listeners will be engaged in story improv games between each 5-minute feature.

On April 14th at The Coolidge Corner Theater

the semi finals will take place for 2nd place and

people's choice winners of slams.

On April 26, 2011 all the finalists and friends will gather for a BIGMOUTHOFF story slam at Rabb Hall at Copley Square Library. massmouth will award the winners of this contest fabulous prizes.

Grand Prize for South Shore Grand Slam Story Slam generously donated by Nicolette Heavey and Stories In The Streets (A Maine Get Away)

Stories in the Streets in an outreach literacy program that focuses on families in at-risk areas and fosters community engagement in storytelling by: 1) Creating opportunities for public storytelling wherever families gather — a farmer’s market, laundromat, or food line; and, 2) Offering storytelling workshops that raise family engagement in literacy, cultural awareness and community understanding.  The program is currently active in Lawrence, Brockton and Randolph.
